About AWSE26
The African Women Fish Processors and Traders Network (AWFISHNET), the Pan-African network of women in fisheries and aquaculture, will convene the African Women’s Seafood Expo 2026. This high-level continental platform is designed to mobilize investment, strengthen partnerships, and unlock business opportunities across Africa’s fisheries and aquaculture value chains.
The Expo is aligned with the International Year of the Woman Farmer 2026, and the aim is to contribute to the global efforts to elevate the role of women in Aquatic food system within the overall agrifood systems while expanding opportunities for youth participation and employment.
Further, the event will bring together diverse stakeholders including policymakers, investors, development and technical partners, private sector actors, research and academic institutions, and civil society organizations and women and youth entrepreneurs. It will serve as a marketplace, policy platform, business and investment forum, providing opportunities for dialogue, partnership building, and direct business engagement.
While continental dimension is the scope, the Expo is set to benefit from the collaboration with the African Regional Economic Communities (RECs), including the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), as well as engagement with regional and global partners across Africa.
